Curriculum

Each year, the Noyes Leadership team creates a central theme for the academic school year. This theme is what we center the year around, to reflect and inspire us to push forward for our families and students. The 2024-2025 theme is "Because I Care".

Because I Care

Early Childhood Education:

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum designed to help educators at all levels of experience plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, content-rich program for children with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.

Social Emotion Learning:

All students at Noyes participate in SEL Blocks utilizing the Character Strong curriculum. The program centers around monthly themes (Gratitude, Respect, etc.). An overview of the curriculum can be found here.

Kindergarten - Fifth Grade Math:
At DCPS, Kindergarten - Fifth grade students participate in the Eureka Math curriculum. An overview of this curriculum can be found here. DCPS math instruction is designed around the research and best practice in mathematics education, namely in helping students develop the 5 strands of mathematical proficiency. For more information about the 5 strands of proficiency, visit this site.

Kindergarten- Fifth Grade ELA:
DCPS supports highly effective English Language Arts (reading, writing, speaking and listening) instruction through a research-based approach that aligns between schools and grade levels through standardized and Common Core State Standard (CCSS) aligned curriculum, district-wide teacher professional development, reading interventions and assessments. DCPS has it's own developed curriculum called Passport to Learning.

In grades Kindergartern - Second Grade, additional support is provided to the early readers with Wilson's Reading's Fundations, a curriculum designed to support students with Phonics.
